Cynthia's Story of an Innocence Lost

February 17th I had the opportunity to meet Cynthia Jowers. She drove from her home in St. Louis to Tyler, Texas to tell us her story and fill up some of the gaps in her past. At age five she was kidnapped by a man through her bedroom window. She was taken to a park, raped and returned home. This was her first time back to Tyler. She wanted to look at the old police reports, the bedroom and the park to help herself gain closure on that part of her life.

The top photo is of Jowers overcome with emotion running out of the bedroom after seeing it for the first time since she was a child. The second photo is a quiet moment after she returned to the room and studied the window and its significance.

Here is a link to a video I made documenting the day's events and her story.
