Navy Officer Meets Son for First Time

U.S. Navy Petty Officer 3 Daniel Avina holds his son Ian for the first time arriving at the Tyler Pounds Regional Airport in Tyler, Texas Friday May 5, 2015. Avina has been serving off the coasts of Iraq and Syria on the USS Carl Vinson for the past 10 months and had not yet met his son Ian Avina who has born four months ago while he was deployed. Avina grew up in Arizona and graduated from high school at Westview High School in Avondale. His wife Manhatten (not pictured) has been staying in Tyler with her parents Kevin and Valerie Shepard while he has been serving in the Navy. They plan to return soon to Sam Diego where is stationed.
