Logging, Lawn Mowers & Building a Community in Rusk, Texas

I'm proud of this story I worked on with reporter Jacque Hilburn Simmons about a man in small town Rusk, Texas who was elected to the city council by one vote. He's now championing an initiative he calls "Small Town USA." He's working to revive the Rusk community with events like lawn mower racing. During the day he's a logger driving lumber across East Texas, but once a month he has to race from work to his wife's daycare businesses to change clothes, clean up, and head to the nearby city council meeting by 6 p.m.
