tunnel boat Jay Foxworld power boat champion

This is Jay Fox of Bay City. He just won the SST-120 class power boat world championship in Trenton, Mich. last weekend.

Water Ball

Last week the Kawkawlin Township fire department challenged area firefighters to a game of water ball-- an old firefighting tradition. The ball weighs 45 pounds and is suspended on a steel cable. They use the water pressure in a tug-of-war type fashion.

Habitat for Humanity

My favorite shot from today... I was shooting these Dow & Habitat for Humanity volunteers installing a new front porch on a house in Bay City's south end when the owner of the house walked into the doorway.... perfect! This is exactly the shot I wanted. :)

So many portraits! but this one is cool

At Bay City Times we shot a LOT of portraits. Here is one of the cooler ones. It ran in today's sports section. I'm hoping to make a video of this guy when he competes next week in the Munger Potato Fest Figure 8.

The Dolly Parton Imagination Library sends children 5 and under a free children's book each month.

...this photo was NOT as easy as it looks. Isabella is 2, and as the saying goes...

Her mom had to bribe her with Fig Newtons just to get her to look at me and get her hands out of her mouth!

Also, this was shot with window light only. I'm not the greatest with artificial lights.

A Texan Accident

This is my favorite photo from a bunch of shots I got shortly after a car crashed into the side of the Texan Restaurant, a block from my apartment in Bay City.

Cops & Doughnuts

Cops & Doughnuts

My first day working at the Bay City Times I was sent out to Clare, Michigan to photograph a new bakery-- a doughnut store-- that was bought by the Clare Police Department. Funny, right? Unfortunately when I was there none of the cops were working, so I didn't get the photos that I wanted, but I liked this one.

No Doubt.

I was recently 3rd row at the No Doubt show in Auburn Hills. No Doubt is my favorite band of all time, and this was a great concert.

I shot this with my point-and-shoot Olympus Stylus 780.
