I went camping with my friends from home up at Avery Lake this weekend. It's located in a state forest so there's not much to do besides swim and sit around the campfire.

For some reason, everyone decided to make creepy flashlight faces, and this is Krista's.

I got called in to work at 8:30 am this morning, so I was in a big rush, and when I ran out to my car, this is what I found.

Well, i definitely gained A LOT of experience in a short amount of time!! I went from shooting girls in bikinis on Sunday to shooting a house burning after 5 hours of...burning.

I think I'm really getting better at this.

This morning was fun. My good friend Colleen came up with her friend from Dayton and I got to model around Sidney with her. She's working on her final portfolio so she can graduate from the Ohio Institute of Photography and Technology. I hadn't seen her in so long! Anyway, we wandered around downtown Sidney and found all kinds of cool backgrounds for portraits. We found some cool graffiti and lots of different bricks and buildings with paint peeling off and lots of things you just don't notice from the street. I'm excited to see the photos!

Tomorrow will be a great adventure too. I'm going to Lansing to assist my friend Dave in shooting the 2008 Central Girls bikini calendar. Although it will be a four hour drive from here (and four hours back, ugh!) it's worth it because I have the potential to get some really neat shots since we'll be shooting in the golden hours (& sunset/lake backgrounds). Fashion photography is something I've not done a lot of, but I'm really interested in it, especially after watching VH1's show 'The Shot" this past spring... I really want to have a food-fight photo shoot sometime!!

Well, here's my favorite photo from this week. This is a YMCA board member attempting to make a hole-in-one putt at the putting competition for the YMCA Golf for Kids tournament... needless to say, he missed it by about a millimeter.

Stained Glass

This ran front page today. I almost didn't even turn it in. I took it just for myself because I love old church interiors, but after Katie walked by my desk and said it was really good or cool or something, I decided to put it in the photo basket anyway.

Sneaking up on cows

I drove past this cow this morning and I had to stop because it was too cute sitting out in the tall grass of this field.

Then she saw me... and then I saw her little calf!

Beware the mysterious chicken

I made a SoundSlides this weekend.

Versailles Poultry Days

A fist full of chickens

This is a dragonfly over at Tawawa Park, when I was supposed to be taking photos of canoes, but there weren't any.

This is from the Versailles Poultry Days festival

The Extreme

I spent 5 hours at the Versailles, OH Poultry Days festival. The parade alone was an hour and a half. I shot all 4 of my memory cards and went back to the office thinking I didn't even get anything good. But I did. I got some cute kid pics that I'll post later this week.

For now, here's a photo that I thought looked bad on my camera so I didn't get the girls' names, but now I regret it!! The second one is a better view of their faces, but it's not really in focus.

Pee Head

I was driving along Russell Road out to Russia for an assignment when I saw this & immediately slammed my brakes to snap a photo:

Then at the baseball game last night I kept getting distracted because this little guy was building a nest on top of the dugout.

Random pics from today

Nothing too exciting has been going on lately. I went home for the weekend, and Lindsay moved in yesterday, but that's about it.

Here's a photo from last Friday at the Y.

I'm learning more about kids and animals than anything else

So, when I'm not working on a news assignment, I am doing one of four things:

1. sitting on my couch
2. playing with little kids at the apartment
3. taking photos of animals
4. looking for features.... of kids and animals.

Before living here in Sidney I had never played or even talked to a little kid. Now it's something that I do on an everyday basis both at home and at work. Pretty much every day I am at the parks looking for features. What else is at the park? Kids. and sometimes animals. Mostly geese.

Today I hung out with Susan and Candice, the two girls from my spring carnival photo, in the heat ride. We played frisbee, duck duck goose, catch, and ran some races. I also met some older kids...they were 17. At least that's getting closer to 21. lol. I only talked to them for a couple minutes though. They didn't seem too interested in me after I told them I was from Michigan, but hey, they asked me!!

here's some geese.

crap, i have a little kid photo i want to post, but it's corrupted on my flashdrive, and i have tomorrow off,'ll just have to wait i guess.

I went to the park today and shot some random stuff while I was lost in the woods for a while.

This is various croppings of a photo of cottonwood puffs flying everywhere.

This is a creepy lil' spider on a bridge arm rail.
