Cosmotology University

cosmotology university

I discovered this place while driving out to the hot air balloons last week. I'm going to do some kind of longer project on it... just not sure what yet. I've been super backlogged on getting my life organized lately, but I think this place does have some photo potential! I'm hoping to go back tomorrow. :)

Hot Air Balloons

I love hot air balloons. I always have and I always will. I saw that Midland was having a festival, and since that's in our coverage area I thought, what better excuse than to do a huge project on it?? So I did! I'm currently working on a photo story/soundslides about Brian and Lisa Gano who have their own balloon ride business. I was lucky enough to attend the media flight Thursday, and they let me ride along with them in their smaller balloon, Dunder Chief. Here are some photos from our flight! This was one of my life goals, and I want to do it again!

This is a balloon called Rainbow Twist. This photo was on the AP wire and I saw it run in my hometown paper, the Toledo Blade! I also saw it run in the Lansing State Journal. :)

This is a photo of Lisa pulling a rope to pull down the envelope (balloon part) so it can be deflated.

This is the shadow of the balloon I was in. We went 1,800 feet and flew for over an hour!

Chemics Football

My new favorite thing is shooting football. I'm not s sporty person, but I LOVE football games. It probably has something to do with me being in marching band for 5 years and being a huge fan of school spirit! Give me a good crowd like Midland HS or Bay City Central, and I'm all over it!

p.s. this is 3rd week of shooting football...ever.

A Northern Adventure

I went to the UP this weekend. If you've been stalking me on Facebook, you already know the story. I went to CMU, picked up a friend, saved am injured & abandoned cat, then hit the road with only some maps and went exploring.

We didn't know where we were going, and that made it all the more fun. We ended up driving along the coast of Lake Michigan, then up to Lake Superior (after a 3 hour visit to the hospital because I stepped on a nail during one of our many side-trip/side-of-the-road photoshoots). We ended up driving all the way to Marquette, Mich., which turned out to be one of the coolest towns ever! The natural beauty of the area was unbelivable, and the NMU college scene wasn't bad either!

total trip time: 2 days. total trip miles: 800. totally worth it.

Flowers at the 7th hole

I shot a golf tournament today, and I fell in love with the 7th hole. It had cool trees, a crazy elevated tee-off, a sand trap, and a little pond with lots of frogs, turtles, and these flowers!
