My 200th post!

Here's a time lapse I made of Bay City artist Todd Stevenson painting a copy of a Van Gogh painting.

Todd

Photobucket

This is Todd Stevenson. He's a Bay City artist, and I'm making a video about him. One of his inspirations is hookah and also his house so I wanted to get an environmental portrait. I borrowed my roomie's mini light and put it in the corner of the room.

Horses.

Photobucket
I went out to Reese today with Wayland for another story on Help Send Santa to Baghdad. After several u-turns we stopped to get a photo of these horses. I mostly just liked the horse with his head sticking out from the barn. I think the horses were wondering what we were doing too.

Wrestling

I don't know how I feel about wrestling yet. I think next time I'll use the light kit.

Basketball season.

It's time for basketball. That means I'll be a lot warmer being indoors, but a lot sorer from carrying the heavy light kit around everywhere.

Thanksgiving Time Lapse

This is my first-ever time lapse! It's one photo every seven seconds for about 3 1/2 hours from Thanksgiving day at my house.

Santa Arrives in Bay City

Photobucket

It's a tradition in Bay City that all the children gather in Wenonah Park armed with flashlights to help guide Santa and Mrs. Claus in to Bay City.

Murder in Bay City!

Today I witnessed a murder.

I saw a bird eat another bird!
Photobucket
It's ripping the other bird's feathers off!

the murder scene (no flash) when I first saw it, it was sitting here, then it flew across the street to the spot from my first photo

This was the culprit. I know it looks like daylight, but I just brightened it a lot so you could see what kind of bird it was. Some kind of hawk.

The best of the past week-ish

Photobucket

Jackie Frasik of Bay City helps her daughter Corianne Sharon, 7, put on her bicycle helmet Wednesday after school. Corianne received a brand new bicycle after her old one was stolen a week before her birthday in October. The bike was a gift from a Bay City Police officer who heard her story.

Two kayakers paddle down the Saginaw River in Bay City. This was for a fog feature, but at this point the fog had lifted.

Jean Kjellberg of Standish is framed by the triangle of Saginaw High School band director Jeannine Coughlin during rehearsal for the Bay Concert Band Tuesday in Bay City. The Bay Concert Band's upcoming holiday concert is scheduled for Dec. 8th and features five guest conductors.

birds in my window.

I was sitting on my couch eating a Hot Pocket Saturday when I noticed a flurry of wings flapping outside my window. I looked out and saw about 50 birds flying in and out of a tree that butts up against my apartment. I have no idea what kind of birds these are, but here are some pics! I love it when nature comes to me!

Squares.

Photobucket

Soooo I have a problem. I always crop things into squares. Maybe it has something to do with the affinity I have for my mom's old photos from when she was growing up. Back then, photos were square.

Anyway, these are two Pinconning High School flagcorps girls walking into Kelly/Shorts Stadium.

Ten Point Buck

At the end of my workday yesterday this guy came into the newsroom asking me if I could take a picture of the deer he shot... he had it tied to the trunk of his car right outside the office.

Shooting Ghosties

Photobucket

I went out with my friend and co-worker Katie to do a story on a local restaurant that is supposedly haunted by 4 ghosts. The man in this photo is the executive chef. He took us down to the basement and showed us the wine cellar that used to be a jail cell. Creepy stuff!

the story is here: http://www.mlive.com/news/bay-city/index.ssf/2009/10/the_haunting_of_sharis.html

350,climate action

I shot the 350 event, a worldwide event where community members gather in front of a sign saying "350" to promote awareness of the 350 parts per million safe limit of CO2 in the atmosphere. Our current ppm is over 390. These people decided to put their bodies into the shape of 350.

dogfish,howl-o-ween

I wanted to do a multimedia piece on this event, "Howl-O-Ween" but I was running short on time, and the event ended early due to bad weather. I thought these two had the best costumes. It's a "dogfish"--get it?

Halloween Cat

cat,halloween

This cat would be a good Halloween decoration if he just stayed there all the time.
