Shots from out the "scooter" when we went on a Mac Wood's sand dune ride.

Welcome Home

I love, love, love, love, love late summer night games!

It's always kinda weird for me shooting photos at football games because I don't work for CM-Life or anything, so I just always sneak my camera in and take lots of sports features. Plus, I am a crazy Central fan myself...always decked out in face paint, feather boas, gold hair glitter, and anything else I can find! I was in the 2nd row tonight and during halftime I decided to set my camera down on the bleachers and just snap some photos of the people around me without even looking through the lens... the results are the following 2 photos... I like them!

Dauphin Island 2 with the ocean literally in my backyard, and life with a pelican that's a little too pushy... we fed him 12 fish and still tried to nip us when we walked by to get more bait!

Dauphin Island, Alabama

I just got back yesterday from my week long trip down to Dauphin Island, Alabama to see my dad's side of the family. We drive down every couple years or so. We have a beach house with a nice long dock facing the Mississippi Sound side. There's a great view of the bridge and some interesting houses nearby. There's not much to do there besides fishing, catching lizards, and swimming, but it's a lot more exciting than the rest of the state... which is really boring... except for the Montgomery Biscuits. lol. look it up... what a great mascot.

Local Celebrity

I think I've reached local celebrity status in Sidney.

I went to the bank today... the same bank I've gone to since the first day I moved here, with the same people working in it that are always there, but today they were like, "OMG I saw you at Relay!! You're that photographer...SARAH MILLER! My mom loves your photos!"

seriously... that's what happened!! I didn't have my camera on me or anything (I already turned it in :( )

I'm also pretty tight with all the local government people, especially the city manager Steve Stillwell. He's a CMU grad and I saw him today at Hot Dogs on the Courtsquare. He said he knows Mount Pleasant's city manager pretty well, so if I ever have any problems to let him know!

I kind of feel bad leaving. I feel like people will be upset when I am all of a sudden not lurking around little league games, sitting around at parks, shopping at the Dollar Tree, eating peanut butter-chocolate shakes at Chilly Jilly's, reading out the the pool, etc.

Also, my little neighbor friends will probably be sad that I didn't say goodbye to them, but my bike isn't here anymore, so I haven't been outside much in the past few weeks to even run into them.

ALSO, all the frogs and bugs at Tawawa Park will miss me always trying to take photos of them. lol.

Some guy called the newspaper and wanted me to come take a photo of his kids drawing with chalk all over the place, but when I got there the kids had taken off to the Humane Society to see some kittens, but while he was trying to get them to come back, I hung out with this sleepy cat and vicious guard dog (ha).

Goodbye Sidney, tomorrow I'll be on the road! Destination... Dauphin Island, Alabama!
...then Lambertville, then Mount Pleasant, then... the UP or Canada! ahh! (maybe Cedar Point too?)

I-75 stalking

Soooo for an assignment today, I had to sit out by I-75 for an hour and wait for John McCain to pass by! He was late!

After a long 6 years of trying, threats, and an overall Hatfield-McCpy feel, the Hardin-Houston School levy passed last night. The boom of screams, cheers and excitement took both Erin and me by surprise, but the photos can tell the story better than these words.

The superintendent

The students

The administration & teachers

The levy committee chairman

The Flying Dutchmen! ...kind of

Here is a sneak peak from my exciting adventure yesterday! Lindsay and I got to fly out from the Sidney airport over to the Springfield, OH Air National Guard Base to hang out with some guys from the Royal Netherlands Air Force who use the site for air training. We flew in a tiny Piper Arrow III with a guy from Minster who is in the Sidney Pilots Association. It was hard to get photos with good color and no motion blur, but I did get a handful of good shots that will run on the theme page in the paper tomorrow. I think I might use this as a possible photo story.

clouds or football?

Well, I went to go shoot some football practice pics today, but when I got to the high school, I noticed something weird going on in the sky. Now, I know that action shots generally are better than... photos of clouds... but then the clouds decided to be a little more exciting than football. Here's the awesome result, thanks to Erin for showing me how to make the colors pop.

Cheering at Relay

The Sidney High School cheer team boogied down to the Hokey Pokey at Relay for Life.
