This was taken at the Jackson Center Community Days. ...This kid was not a fan of me.

There's nothing new really to say, except that it's about a bajillion degrees out, and I have nothing to do.

Also, I had today off, but I worked a little anyway.

Here's some pics from last week.

A Jersey cow

Sidney spring carnival

Also, there's some guy who lives in the apartment building across from mine, and during the afternoons, he opens all his windows, puts on Motown music and sings at the top of his lungs...and I can always here it. lol.

I found out that once again, the place where my dad works is closing, so my family will be without an income by June 1st. :( And I was just watching a story on CNN about middle class families living in cars, so that's something to look forward too...not.

I shot Christian Academy's graduation today. This kid came in late and was a total goof. He tried telling me he was 21 and giving me a fake name, but with a graduating class of 11, it's hard to lie. So I tried getting some photos of everyone before they walked out into the gym, and here's what I got:

Then I later found out that he is the brother of the little girl with the puppy from a few posts ago.

Ok, blogger is ruining the color on my photos and I don't know why. I think it just doesn't like CMYK (as seen in the first photo). I switched the second one to RGB and it how it is supposed to look! This is a photo from a preschool graduation this morning.

So I had a weird dream last night. In my dream, I was on a drive with my family in Sidney. We stopped at a stop sign and I looked out of the van window and saw HUGE bear. It had to be 2,000 pounds. It went over to a house with a deck on the 2nd floor. The bear went on the deck with the family and hung out for a bit, then it's severe fatness caused it to break through the deck and land underneath on top of a horse! So then the horse and the bear got in a fight and wrestled, and I took a photo. I then took the photo into work and tried to turn in it, but the people there said "Yeah, that would be good spot news if it didn't happen last week too."

Also, I made 2 new friends today....two little kids named Dallas and Dakota. They live in my apartment complex and they're from Texas! We met at the bike rack. :)

Wednesday's blog...on Thursday

Ok, I started writing this yesterday, but then my fever decided to come back so I went to bed before actually publishing it.

Once again I met someone CMU-affiliated here in Sidney. I was just walking around downtown looking for features and people to do the Inquiring Photographer, and this guy started yelling at my from his car. It was a guy who wwent to CMU. He saw my cmu bag and was astonished that another Chip would be in Sidney.

Well, during my feature hunt, I didn't find much, but I found some baby geese.

In other news, my grandma's cat Banjo died. She was 22. Yeah, the cat was older than me.

Lastly, I am sick of finding these little guys all over my apartment!

Everyone in Sidney Hates Michigan/"The Picture Lady"

This is mostly a note to all my Michigan friends: Everyone here hates you. No, maybe not, but they reallllly don't like U of M. Today at an assignment someone said to me,

"You can't use that photo, he's wearing a Michigan shirt!"

Then on my first day I saw a lady wearing a shirt of Michigan lighthouses, and when I mentioned that her shirt had something to do with Michigan, she freaked out and whipped out her Ohio State cell phone cover.

There have been other anti-Michigan instances this past week, but I don't remember them.

State rivalry is funny.

On a positive Michigan-related note, I met the father of one of the CMU football players at an assignment yesterday. That was cool. That's why I like always using my CMU bag because people will see it and come up to me with some crazy CMU story or tell me that their kid goes there or they always go to the casino, or whatever.

Funny kid quote of the day:

"Are you a picture lady? You're the Picture Lady? Why are you here? Your boss told you to come take pictures of us kids? Weird."

And lastly, I met the supposed illegitimate son of Elvis today. He lives in Dayton and has a band.

Great day minus the 102 degree fever

I swear I am allergic to my apartment, or maybe it's just the paint fumes. IDK, but when I went to bed last night I had a fever of 102 degrees and I am normally between 96-98. Luckily, as soon as I left my apartment to go shoot (and that wasn't until 10:30am) I felt a lot better.

What made it ever better? Awesome people and awesome photos. I was driving down the road and saw a lady gardening with a little puppy running around her, so I pulled around the block and went to talk to her. Wow! I think she was the nicest person I ever met in my life. When I pulled in her driveway, as a complete stranger with an out-of-state license plate I thought maybe she would get nervous or go inside but instead she waved me over with the biggest smile and starting talking to me. I ended up getting some photos of the puppy and her daughter that our paginator really likes.

I also I think I took the 3 best photos of my life today. I sent 2 of them in to be published, but here's the third. At Lehmen Catholic School it's tradition for the senior class to jump in one of their classmate's pools, in ripped up uniforms, on the last day of classes.

Pretty cool, huh?

Saturday! Saturday!

Photos of the day:

Have you ever seen a horse with blue eyes? I haven't, but now I have.

This guy cracked me up. He did this every time I saw him. He must really enjoy triathlons because he's even wearing a shirt from another one.

This was almost a really good picture...just took it a second too late...or I should have zoomed out.

Day 2

So today went pretty well. Shot some stuff at an elementary school, got to go to a court arraignment, a press conference, then I worked on the "Inquiring Photographer," which is basically CM-YOU. The question of the week was "Do you favor a federal gas tax holiday this summer?" Everyone I talked to said yes. I say yes too.

So I definitely need to make some friends here because I just got back from walking around outside for 2 hours because I got out of work early and I have nothing to do until 9am tomorrow. I thought about driving to Dayton, but that didn't happen. Maybe tomorrow.

Weird story #1: I set up a new bank account today and the banker I talked to looked at my driver's license, saw I was from Lambertville and said he'd worked there for 8 years! Then during my Inquiring Photographer adventure I talked to a woman who said she needs a gas tax holiday so she can drive to Monroe, MI! It seems like everywhere I go I run into someone from home or someplace I know. I even found out someone else from CMU is coming to Sidney!

Weird story #2: During my walk some 10-year-old boy hit on me! ah! Little boy: "I don't know who that is, but dannnnnnggggg! Hey lady, how old are you?" Me: *just keeps walking, pulls out phone, calls friends at home*

Ok, that's enough yappin' for now.

First Day

I started my photo internship at The Sidney Daily News today. It went pretty well. I shot a preschool Spring Fling/Book celebration/Olympic-themed event and a Sidney girls softball game. I got my pants and shoes destroyed by mud. I also learned how to use a Nikon D200 in like...5 mins.

Yesterday was crazy moving in to my apartment. I got here at noon and found out that my apartment wasn't done yet. Well, it's still not done, but I'm here anyway.

I've had a lot of "firsts" in the past 2 days.

-first time moving out (besides going to school)
-first time living in an apartment
-first time living on my own (I'll get a roomie in June though! yay!)
-first time having a real internship
-first time buying groceries
-first time trying to live off my own cooking (BBQ rice and cheese quesadillas? I make due....haha)
-first time shooting Nikon
-first time not having cable (I hope I can see The Office through all the fuzz!)
-first time killing a big ugly spider w/o help from my mom (death by toilet drowning)

I think that's it for now.

Look forward to some more exciting posts in the future, and probably some pictures too!
