Squash Blossoms

Squash blossoms were featured in the food section this week. Apparently you can eat them. I shot these out in my yard at the Green Street Co-op house. That makes this the second assignment I've shot in my pjs (one time I shot a fire in my pajamas too).

SLC County Fair

Well, the fairs out here sure aren't like the ones in the midwest. This was the tiniest, lamest fair I have ever been to. The Monroe County Fair (Michigan) is probably 10-15X as big. I hear that Utah is more about the State Fair, but I won't be here when that comes around.

Fatal Train Crash

A man drove around the crossing arms when they were down. He got killed by the train. Not sure why this happens all the time, but it does.

Shot this on manual focus and at long exposure with my new monopod, so they are not super sharp, but I like the colors.

Dance... a Struggle in Manual Focus

Well for some reason my 70-200mm isn't focusing even though I just got it back from being repaired for not focusing. Great. What's better? Shooting dance. With manual focus. It wasn't the worst thing ever, but I definitely had some issues trying to focus fast enough to get the moment + good framing. Here are some frames I liked.

It has been a long time since I've shot anything in a studio, so when my friend Antonio asked me about taking some photos for him I figured it would be a good chance to see if I remembered anything about lights.

A Great Day to be Gay

Proposition 8 overturned in California, gay Utahns celebrate at the state capitol. A rainbow actually appeared over the stormy skies during the rally... a sign from God? Who knows (see 5th photo). After the rally the people took to the streets and marched around Temple Square (where the Mormon headquarters and Temple are)

This guy had the choice of going on a Mormon mission or training to be an Olympic skier. He took the mission, now he wants to go back to his ski dream.
