Shiprock, New Mexico

I was on my way moving from Salt Lake City to Tyler, TX. My friend Amy was driving my car, and I was in the passenger seat turned backwards with my camera. The sun was going down and a storm was passing by. For miles, and miles, and miles we could see the outline of some weird looking rock or building or something far out in the distance. As we got closer I realized that it was the famous Shiprock Monument, a rock formation sacred to the Navajo People. It definitely has a mystical appeal, sticking out over 1,500 from the flat desert surrounding it. I don't know if the sunsets and storms around there always make the rock look so wild, but I am glad that we just happened to unexpectedly catch it.
