Cops & Doughnuts

Cops & Doughnuts

My first day working at the Bay City Times I was sent out to Clare, Michigan to photograph a new bakery-- a doughnut store-- that was bought by the Clare Police Department. Funny, right? Unfortunately when I was there none of the cops were working, so I didn't get the photos that I wanted, but I liked this one.

Hi Sarah,
I am one of the wives of the officers that bought the bakery! Small world! I was born and raised in Lambertville/Temperance! Please let us know if you come back! It would be great to meet you! Love the picture too!

I saw an interview on Fox News New York with the officers that bought the bakery. Unfortunately, none of them actually work there they just own it.

True, none of the officers are on the payroll, but several are at the bakery on their days off from the police department helping out, along with some of their wives. We have employed 15 local high school and college students along with several other local community members.

I volunteered at a police department for a while, and during one of their meetings there was a plate of doughnuts on the table. I was looking at it and trying to keep a straight face. One of the cops saw me, looked me right in the eye, and said, "Don't you even think about it."
